Decoding the signs of dry skin
Tightness, redness, discomfort, rough texture... These are often subtle but persistent signs. Dry skin doesn't always manifest itself dramatically: sometimes it sets in slowly, without us noticing. However, it can profoundly impact the skin's comfort and balance.
At Apoticari, we believe that you must first learn to listen to your skin, before even trying to treat it.
What is dry skin?
We must distinguish two things:
- Naturally dry skin , which produces little sebum, is often thin, sensitive, and tightens easily.
- Dehydrated skin , which lacks water, regardless of its type (even oily skin can be dehydrated).
In both cases, the skin barrier is weakened. As a result, water evaporates more quickly, the skin becomes less supple, and it defends itself less well against external aggressions.
How to recognize skin that is lacking?
- Feeling of discomfort after showering or cleaning
- Rough or slightly flaky areas
- Feelings of tightness at the end of the day
- Dull complexion, lacking radiance
- Makeup that “clings” or marks fine lines
It's not a matter of age or season. Dryness can affect anyone, and it can worsen in winter, in the sun, after a period of stress, or hormonal imbalance.
What actions can be taken to relieve dryness?
Clean gently with a cold saponified superfatted soap , which respects the hydrolipidic film.
Apply a hydrosol (like chamomile or cornflower ) right after cleansing, to rehydrate the skin.
Nourish with an oil or balm rich in essential fatty acids (omega 3, 6 and 9) , such as calendula elixir, to restore the skin barrier and slow water loss. These fatty substances play a key role: they fill micro-cracks, strengthen the lipid cement of the epidermis and provide the skin with the elements that it can no longer produce on its own when it is suffering.
Space out exfoliations and avoid water that is too hot, which increases water loss.
The key: don't push, don't overload. Simply restore the fundamentals.
At Apoticari, we believe in skincare that respects the skin's signals.
Because skin that is listened to is already skin that is relieved.
